Dance came back to Circus Street market as part of Big Dance 2014.
This project started when Leen Dewilde of Reckless Sleepers started destroying things, smashing cups, breaking down walls cutting up furniture and sawing the legs off chairs.
A String Section started as one of these works, a simple set of 5 chairs 5 women and 5 saws It became a project where, the production of sawdust, the leftover legs, the half broken chairs, the residue of the action was as important as the acton itself.
For 3 days in July, Reckless Sleepers returned to Brighton to work with 20 women to create a new larger scale site-specific adaptation of A String Section for Brighton’s Circus Street Market.
