On June 25th we held one last event in the old Circus Street Market space.

We joined together with the dancers, performers, photographers, artists, sculptors, makers, up-cyclers, hula-hoopers, entertainers, local councillors and neighbours who were involved in the amazing events in the market over the last two years. What a fun evening and with an amazing bunch of people, many of whom have been part of the Circus Street meanwhile use since 2013.

The events held in Circus Street included a programme of dance and workshops by our partners South East Dance and major exhibitions by The Brighton Festival and The Brighton Photo Biennial. The community room has also been fully booked over the two years with activities including workshops, meetings, a food waste collective, photo exhibitions, a youth club and lots more. Over 40,000 of you attended over 88 public events as well as the community sessions.

What a fantastic time we've had. The creative and sustainable events that formed the major part of the activity in the market, reflect the future of Circus Street as a new creative quarter for Brighton & Hove.

The new development will include The Dance Space for South East Dance, an exhibiton space and academic building for the University of Brighton and a new public square and market space for events and performance.

The next phase  is construction on site. If you'd like to receive updates about the Circus Street development during the construction phase or have a question, please email Catherine at with you name, enquiry and contact details.
