The Urban Playground team is the original performance-parkour (2PK) company combining authentic French free-running with dance & physical theatre.
Following the success of their last show at Circus Street and by demand, Urban Playground are back, this time with a free ‘work-in-progress’ performance of a brand new show Steam and more opportunities for young people to join in and have a go. Participants will even get to perform alongside the company.
In STEAM, urban explorers enter an empty industrial space and beneath canvas tarps discover the skeletal remains of a machine that changed the world; captivated, they open a furnace and shovel coal on to the fires of the past… From revolutionary Russia to Buster Keaton’s ‘Old West’ and from the Europe of Holmes and Poirot to the futuristic Asia of a James Bond movie, this train will take audiences on a journey they’ll never forget.
Choreography workshops: take part in a 3-hour workshop with The Urban Playground team to learn the fundamentals of performance parkour and then create short choreographies for presentation alongside Steam. Apply by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
