We opened up the doors of the old municipal market to people in Brighton & Hove for a fantastical, festive and free event - Circus Street Winterland. More than 1000 people turned up to enjoy entertainment, activities and street food.

Our one-day festival began in the Winterland Labyrinth, an alternative to Santa’s grotto created by Brighton Festival & Fringe winning theatre company Copperdollar. Visitors watched dramatic dance performances from ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, presenting MurMur, a unique innovative duet whose performance centres on their control over an unpredictable steel contraption. South East Dance, one of our partners at Circus Street delivered an amazing programme of dance and performance. The Bell Tent Imaginarium by Periplum allowed children (and mum and dad) to enjoy a digital tour of discovery into Alice’s Wonderland.

There was loads of other fun stuff to do including carnival and circus performances, Christmas decoration making and live owls from Owls About Town, including Venus the two-year-old Bengal Eagle Owl. We had the best street food vendors in Brighton offering home made gourmet food and locally crafted beer and to top if all off, Circus Street Winterland helped to raise funds for the Brighton Argus Appeal.
